Glasshouse

Composed April 2023 – Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Percussion, Piano

From the composer: “Commissioned by Latitude 49 and the Elon Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, Glasshouse is a work in two versions for pierrot ensemble with percussion and mixed chamber ensemble. This piece is a portrayal and characterization of the different color shades that exist within stained glass when light shines through them. Blue is my favorite color, and so I wanted to depict its spectrum of brightness, as well as its darkness, creating a space where these shades can coexist. This spectrum is shown through the use of various instrumental timbre combinations and musical motives.
